Unphotographable

This is a picture I did not take

of photorealist painter Robert Bechtle and his wife, out for a walk on Potrero Hill in the hard light of a May morning, crossing the street in front of me -- while I waited for them to cross, idling my scooter, in the middle of my morning rush to the train which left ten seconds before I arrived.
