This is a picture I did not take
of a boy riding a bicycle so big the seat hit him in the small of his
back, as we raced each other through early morning minibus traffic in Bahir Dar,
Ethiopia, while I rode in a fake-tuck, grimacing, and him coming-up on my
left side, pulling even with me, smiling in his blue shirt and stamping on
the pedals in his small bare feet.
