Unphotographable

This is a picture I did not take

of an elderly, barefoot woman with a collar of faded tribal tattoos around her neck, wearing a threadbare shawl and one earring, as she followed me on a five kilometer morning walk around Lalibela, Ethiopia, talking to me the entire way in a language I don't speak, beseeching me for birr, and from time to time pointing at me, saying the Amharic word for "foreigner" and laughing.
