This is a picture I did not take
in a taxi in rural Ethiopia of Elizabeth, of a nurse from New Mexico who
was seven months into her tour in the northwest with Medecins Sans
Frontieres, as she told me a story about her arrival in her small village,
and how they'd been struggling with an outbreak of leishmaniasis, a fatal
disease spread by the sand flea, and there were so many deaths that bodies
were being piled-up in the center of town.
